Week 9 -12 March 2021 Bohus Malmön 89,5nm sailing 93 km hiking
Even this month started with no sailing! But instead we got lots of good things done at the house. All trees were finally cut and taking care of during first week of March.
Second week the ice finally disappeared and we just had to air Moons sails. Because we have had the idea to go sailing now and then during the winter we have not “winterized” the sail as we have done previous years without winter sailing. So it was not without some tense feelings we hoisted the main. To our great pleasure it looked “brand new”, spotless as it had been used yesterday. Rain and then frost for a month could have damaged a “normal” sail… We are happy that we listened to our sail maker and spent that extra money!
We were only out of our harbor for two days! Weather and social obligations brought us back on land the rest of the second week of March.
Third week we finally got some miles under the keel. Good sailing in fresh wind south to Marstrand, the sailing hotspot north of Gothenburg. Due to the covid-19 we have not been able to travel and visit friends as normal, but now we at least could meet a few on this trip south.
After a few days we started back north again, making short daytrips and stayed overnight in several small fishing villages meeting friends.
The fourth week we had to go back to the house to take care of some business, but finally at the very end of March, actually Easter, we manage to get on the water again. Cold and windy, but with a lots of sunshine made it very comfortable. Of course we have to choose our destinations downwind!
