After having reclaimed the boat after two months ashore, we sailed north from Helsingborg to our friends in Bua (77 nm north of Helsingborg). For the first time we weren’t able to make the whole trip from dawn to dusk, due to the few daylight hours. Shortly after dusk we moored in Glommen, 20 nm south of Bua. We arrived in Bua the next day after lunch and spent two days together with our friends, walking and dining.
Sailing winter time in Sweden means that you have to make use of daylight and good weather, if there is any. We sailed almost nonstop, only three stops overnight, to Bohus Malmön in the middle of Bohuslän, although we had planned to stop, meeting friends in various places going north. Due to the Covid-19 we put these meetings on hold.
At BM we have friends and could borrow their car to get to our new house and bring our car back to BM.
We stayed in BM for almost two weeks. Did multiple trips to our house to organize all house hold goods and furniture we brought from Helsingborg (leftovers after Björn´s mother) with our car and a rented van first days of December. We had left our car at the house and returned to Helsingborg and Moon with the rented van, solving a logistic problem with moving a car and a boat 200 miles with only the two of us!
In Moon we replaced the hot water tank that started to leak (20 years old) early December.
After Christmas we sailed north to celebrate New Year together with other sailors enjoying a brisk winter sail. We visited the Weather islands (Väderöarna), Hamburgsund, Kalvö, Resö and Fjällbacka before we sailed back to Bohus Malmö the fourth of January.
The temperature have most of the time been above freezing, but the start of January have seen some freezing degrees even at daytime.
We wish you all the best for the New Year and hope we all will be able to sail without restrictions due to the virus.
