Week 18 – 22, May 2020 336 nm sailing and lots of hiking 126 km.
The first week in May we spent up north in Bohuslän moored to a friend’s jetty, cleaning the boat after having done nothing of that kind of job during the winter. We even managed to do some kayaking in the nearby archipelago.
The second week we sailed south to the middle of Bohuslän, visiting friends and waiting for wind to turn favourable to start the trip around Sweden into the Baltic Sea. Due to the Corona virus we are not welcome to our neighbouring countries, leaving us with only one alternative for the summer. But that’s not a bad one!
Took more than a week for the wind to turn northerly, making us a bit restless longing to start making long passages. Talking about long passages; because of the relatively short total distance we don’t plan to do many overnight sailing. But with the northern bright nights there is almost no dark period in late June early July, making “daytrips” up to 100 nm possible.
The last week of May saw us leaving the West coast and going around the south of Sweden into the Baltic Sea. We stayed for two nights in Helsingborg to visit Björn´s mother, almost not allowed due to the virus.
Now the summer sail have started and temperature is really improving
We do hope to get all the way north to the Finnish border, weather permitting.
