Week 32 5 – 11 August 2019 Mollösund – Öckerö 37 nm
5 August Monday Tången, Mollösund
We arrived to Sweden late Monday afternoon having done 470 nm from Kirkwall, Orkney.
The decision to sail back to Sweden instead of Portugal feelt quite right. Especially after the warm greetings we got when we arrived at our friends jetty, where we moored for the night having dinner in their nice new house.
6 August Tuesday Tången – Hinsholmkilen, Gothenburg 30 nm
It’s busy to be back in Sweden. Next meeting was already today in Gothenburg.
After breakfast we left and sailed south, assisted by our Perkins.
The archipelago is crowded with boats, in spite it’s week day and well after the vacation time in July. But we have a plan to bring Moon on the hard to do some maintenance and then back in the water when the archipelago hopefully is empty.
Marstrand and Albrektsunds channel is always nice to come back to. Got some fresh wind the last ten miles in to Gothenburg, where we found a slip in Hinsholmen marina just before five o’clock.
Shortly after we tied up Lars and Brita came and collected us and two bags of laundry.
A lovely fish dish and a nice evening before we took the tram back to Moon.
7 August Wednesday Hinsholmen.
Made a lot of preparation in Moon before the haul out on Friday. Trying to find where we have stored things we need on the hard.
Got a lot of thunder and rain in the afternoon.
Our neighbour boat came with a nice dinner, mostly shrimps, crayfish and other delicatessen from the sea.
8 August Thursday Hinsholmen – Öckerö 7 nm.
Breakfast and then off to Öckerö to be ready to haul out first thing Friday morning.
The whole day we prepare for our work and enjoy company from several old friends who have their boats in the marina.
Dinner at the barbecue platform together with four friends who invited us to join their dinner.
9 August Friday Öckerö on the hard.
The hydraulic wagon came already at eight thirty, but Moon was ready. Already yesterday evening we had moored her in the slot of the ramp. Soon Moon was standing on her support and we could start to work.
First thing before she was put down was to lower the rudder. Only four bolts left at the bottom held the rudder and as soon as these were released Annika could gently bring the rudder down with a rope over a winch.
Before sunset the hole for the shaft to the centreboard was prepared and the shaft taken out. The bushings for the shaft to the centreboard and the rudder are going to be replaced with a better material.
10 11 August Saturday and Sunday Öckerö on the hard.
Lots of rain, but we could work mostly indoors and clean the hull from antifouling dust between the scualls.. High pressure cleaning of the bottom makes a mess!
Lots of work to get the bearings out for the centreboard to be able to exchange the bushings.
The aqua drive had to come off to be able to change the PSS propeller shaft seal. The rubber is supposed to be changed after five to seven years. Took almost all day to loosen all allen bolts in the drive!
This is some of the maintenance work we have to deal with during our planned three weeks on the hard.
