Week 37 10 – 16 September 2018 Hinsholmskilen Gothenburg
10 September Monday Hinsholmskilen
Breakfast in a quiet boat.
Before morning coffee some friends came to see us, not able to wait for the “Open Boat” this weekend.
More people came after lunch.
Our very long time friends Anders and Agneta came for dinner. We had a pleasant evening and they stayed for the night in the aft cabin.
11 September Tuesday Hinsholmskilen
After a good night sleep we had breakfast together before they had to hit the road.
At coffee time another work and sailboat related friend came to look at Moon. He has a Forgus, same as Lindisfarne, so of course he was interested in why we had upgraded.
The day ended up having dinner in our neighbouring boat.
12 September Wednesday Hinsholmskilen
Strong wind and rain when we woke up.
At coffee time friends from southern Gothenburg came to visit us to have a look at our new home. We are happy to be able to have Moon further into the harbour for a side tie this weekend. Moon isn’t designed to have people climbing over the bow and pulpit! In the afternoon we took a long walk and later on we had dinner on our own in Moon.
13 September Thursday Hinsholmen
Another windy night. Today we were on a schedule to visit town. A visit to the eye clinic and to do some laundry.
Walked to our friend Berit and used her washing machine. Had lunch and then we took the tram to get into town and to the eye clinic. We were good, except for the pressure in one of Bjorn’s eyes that needed new medicine, the old drops was obviously not strong enough.
Took the tram back to pick up the dried laundry and Berit drove us back to Moon after dinner.
14 September Friday Hinsholmen.
A new windy night. After breakfast we made sure that there was space enough on the dock at the head of the bay/harbour. We moved Moon all the way into the head and tied up long side to the dock to be able to have people aboard through the gate and not climbing over the bow.
The first couple came shortly before twelve and they came from across Sweden only to see us and Moon. A nice couple that we hadn’t met before, but they had been reading our web site for more than ten years and now wanted to meet us in real life. Very nice to see that our work with the web have been enjoyed by many people. The people that turned up before lunch were all new for us, while after lunch we did know almost all of them that turned up. Lots of colleagues from Björn’s old working place. You can easily understand that there were lots of old memories that came on the table!
The rain started just as the last visitor left at six o’clock.
15 September Saturday Hinsholmen
We are still tied up to the visitor dock.
Rain all night but after breakfast we got a clear sky shortly before the first visitor arrived. As yesterday the first group of visitor was not known by us. At noon there seemed to be a gap in the row of visitors, and we tried to make some lunch. But that was in vane, soon came lots of well known friends for a chat and a look at Moon.
Several we hadn’t met in many years and it became a most enjoyable afternoon.
The last visitor left us before dinner.
Quite exhausted we prepared a simple dinner and then went to bed.
16 September Sunday Hinsholmen
Sunshine when we woke up after a rainy night.
We heard something on deck that we thought was a bird, but when Annika knocked on the skylight something ran ashore. Later when we had breakfast we saw a weasel running on our deck and then over to the dock. We were happy to see that it was no rat!
Just after breakfast came the first visitor, and after that we had full house the whole day, in spite we thought that most people had visit us during the first two days. Around five the rain started and that was just when the last visitor left.
Three intense days with many nice meetings, some we hadn’t met in many years. More than 100 feet walked on Moon’s deck and the same number of eyes inspected Moon below.
Felt like friends and readers found our idea with “Open Boat” a good one.
With all these people visiting us we now even more feel like being at home after all these years on the Oceans.
Nice to prepare dinner in an empty boat. During the day we had nothing more than coffee and a cinnamon bun.
Thanks to all visitors for three nice days with many great meetings.
